Cars and Cars 2

I hear so many people calling Cars the worst Pixar movie ever and thus people automatically hate it. That's the way I have noticed it. Cars may have been the worst Pixar movie, but its still good. The animation was beautiful and the story was good.

Now comes Cars 2. The plot seems a bit out there with Mater being a secret agent, but I am still going to see it. Anywho, discuss.

I loved the first movie, and I'll definitely be seeing the second. o_o I seriously cannot understand the hate for the film. >.>

I did like the first one, not entirely sold on the second one just yet. I do agree that people might be a tad bit harsh on Cars. Just because its not gold like most Pixar films, doesn't mean its a good movie.

My guess for why people don't like Cars is because when you think about it, unlike other Pixar movies, Cars didn't really have originality other than talking cars, basically because of the overused plot of "a selfish guy who's living life at the top until he becomes stranded in a rundown town and later learns to appreciate the simple life and become more kind-hearted". Plus the film didn't really have many cutesy or funny moments that the other films did. But this is all my guess as to why no one likes Cars that much.

Unfortunately, I'm also one of those people who doesn't like Cars all that much. But I don't hate it. I just don't like it all that much yet it did have some funny moments in it that I enjoyed. But I certainly do like it better than Ratatollie which I did not enjoy one bit. I'm not convinced at all why Cars needed a sequal anyway, but I might give it a try once it comes out on DVD.
Heck if any Pixar film needs a sequal, it's The Incredibles!

Yeah, this was probably the worst of the Pixar films, but it was still okay. Not enough to make me want to see a sequel, though.

Cars is most definitely the worst Pixar movie. But it's still a pretty good, maybe even great movie. Not planning on seeing the second one until it comes out on Blu-ray though. I'll rent it then or something, maybe buy it if it's cheap enough.

Cars was ok, but I honestly don't think it needed a sequel.

The first film was alright, but I don't really have high hopes for the second one.

Well, no Pixar movie has ever been bad.

Personally, I liked Cars. At first I didn't find it all that funny, but I rewatched it on Disney Channel a few years later and laughed so hard. My dad thinks it's the best of the Pixar movies, mainly because he's obsessed with racing and cars in general... which is why he's so damn protective of his Jeep. XD Anyway, I don't know if I have high hopes for Cars 2. The first one had a great storyline and fantastic animation, but the plot seems kinda weak. I mean, Mater? A secret agent? Lightning McQueen's side of the story makes sense, but I just don't get the secret agent thing. Maybe it'll be better than the first, Iunna.

Well it has been noted in the past that John Lasseter (or however you spell his last name xP) has an odd fascination with the Cars franchise. He is the head of Pixar and while he is an executive producer on all Pixar projects, the first two Toy Story movies and the Cars movies are his projects that he directed. Maybe because of Cars being the 'worst' of Pixar's projects, he wants a second chance to make Cars a success, thus the sequel. I will give Cars 2 a chance but I do agree that are other movies from the Pixar library that are more deserving of a sequel (The Incredibles)

The thing is, Pixar wants to make more bankable franchises. They ONLY make sequels if it can be superior to the second film.

I think Cars is an exception. They don't have to try that hard because it's not necessarily about the movie itself. They make a TON of money off of Cars merchandise, not just the movie.

So who is actually going to see this today?

Today? No. Soon? Yes. I really liked the first one, so i'm definitely checking this out, probably tomorrow if I have no plans.

Me too. xD My bro went yesterday, and I was going to take him, but then I went out, so I couldn't so my mom took him. >.> I wanted to see it. xD

I am hoping to see it soon with Whitney. She really wants to see it and I am intrigued as well since the first Cars was good.

I saw it yesterday with my dad and it was... alright. It was good, and Larry the Cable Guy was hilarious as always, but it wasn't nearly as good as the original. Characters that had large roles in the first one only recieved about half a paragraph of dialogue. I also still don't understand the whole spy thing. There were two or three scenes about the World Grand Pri and the rest of it was all about the spy agency. I sort of imagined that it would be about the race like last time and Mater just had his own little sub-plot. But of course, my love of the Cars movies isn't what prompted me to see it. No, I stood up and fist-pumped through a certain trailer. Anyway, on a scale of one to ten, I give Cars 2 a 5.8.

Hmm well thanks to Deli's review, I am definitely catching this on DVD. I am now in no rush to see this in theaters after the so-so comments I've been hearing in general.

Bugs Life kicks some serious ass. Wall-E, meh. But definitely better than Cars.

Oh yeah. Figured he would've used the roll eyes smiley though.

I used the Lord Zedd smiley because in my opinion, he epitomizes the essence of seriousness. I would've used an owl picture that had the word: "SRYSLY?" in it, but this site doesn't have that kind of smiley. And one more thing about "Cars 2," I have a feeling that as soon as PIXAR's next outing, "Brave" comes out, people EVERYWHERE will soon see just how AWESOME "Cars 2" really is!

Brave does look great, but how will that make others love Cars 2? It'll just show them that it's a little bit better ny comparison, I think. I didn't hate Cars 2, I kinda liked it. But it's not as good as the first. Some moments actually made me put on my ''WTF?'' face. And when I smiled, it was more of an uncomfortable smile, really. The bathroom jokes are what tanked it for me. I thought it was rather odd for Pixar to stoop so low for humor. I love all the Pixar movies, even the ones you call 'overrated', but this definitely wasn't their best work. The story didn't have a lot of heart. And that's what Pixar's all about; heart. We also can't blame Lasseter entirely for the merchandising, either. Disney itself had a pretty big hand in it. Before Pixar merged with Disney, merchandise was pretty scarce. You must remember, they merged in 2005 and were offered a really good deal.

What's so bad about Brave.

I've seen Cars. Haven't seen Cars 2 yet. I want to as soon as possible though.
