Overall Synopsis: A smart but clumsy, socially awkward and all around nerdy kid named Steven Speckledorf enrolls in Bikini Bottom University, the top, most prestigous university in Bikini Bottom. At first, everything goes wrong as he is easily a target for bullying and public humiliation at the hands of various students. He is instantly labeled as an outcast and continues to be mentally tortured until one of the popular students, linebacker of the Bikini Barnacles puts his popularity on the line to stop the teasing and even befriends him. Together, they share many adventures as they both learn new things from their professors, make new friends and discover what's truly important in life.

Characters as of Season 1:

Steven Speckledorf: Steven Speckledorf is an eighteen year old sardine, straight A student who endures many hardships due to his nerdy nature until the linebacker of the school's football team befriends him at the expense of his own respect and popularity.

Derrick Krabs: Linebacker of the Bikini Barnacles and a sophmore of Bikini Bottom University. Though he is failing most of his classes, he is a gifted athlete and a huge asset to his team. When he first meets Steven Speckledorf, he befriends him just so he can have Steven help pass his classes, but eventually becomes friends with him for real.

Monty "The Saber" Tigershark: A junior of BBU who was been held back twice. Not much is known about him, but his aggressive attitude puts him on the top of the list of people who you don't want to mess with. He constantly bullies other students, especially Steven. His position as quarterback of the Bikini Barnacles combined with his aggressive attitude outside his natural instincts as a shark marks him as an immovable and immortal threat. Ever since Derrick stood up for Steven, Monty has lost respect for him which could put him in a dangerous position..............

Molly Finster: Leader of the cheerleading squad, class president, member of the school newspaper and quite possibly the most popular sophmore in BBU, Molly Finster doesn't hesitate to tell you how great she is. On top of being popular, she is among the smartest girls in school. In fact, she made the top grades in the entire school, that is, until Steven Speckledorf came along. Being intellectually bested at everything she does by Steven, Molly makes a vendetta to pay Steven back when ever she can. Because of her influence, she is the leader of a self-made clique "The Molly Squad" who find fun in making lives for other students miserable.

Professor Squidward Tentacles: Steven's music professor. After he impersonated musical genius, Squlliam Fancyson, one student found his teachings to be helpful. Squidward took the time to teach this student and soon, his fame spread across the town and he became famous and eventually became a BBU music professor. He enjoys teaching, but finds Steven Speckledorf to be quite a nusiance. It reminds him of someone from his past..........

Lance Doolie: A student who makes avergae grades and doesn't stand out much. Nobody seems to notice him which makes him depressed. He even nearly committed suicide by jumping off the school roof unless people paid attention to him. Steven Speckledorf talked him out of jumping off and the two became friends ever since.

Ricky Star: After his uncle, Patrick Star, won the lottery, he used some of the money to get Ricky into BBU. Like his uncle, Ricky isn't exactly bright and because of this, he is flunking all of his classes. One day, after refusing to give Monty Tigershark his lunch money, he is severly beaten until Derrick and Steven save him. Steven agrees to become his own personal tutor to help him pass his classes and the two become friends.

Margie Mackeral: A freshman at BBU who has a major crush on Steven Speckledorf. She constantly follows him around much to his discomfort and apparently, the two have met before...........

Barry the Snail: A pet owned by Ricky Star. Pets are not allowed at BBU, but despite his lack of intellectual prowess, he is able to hide Barry from the teachers during dorm inspection.

Coach Muttonchop: A retired navy seal who takes up a job as a gym teacher at BBU. He is also the coach of the football team. Despite being firm, he is also a kind hearted person who takes the time to help out the physically inferior Steven Speckledorf.

Principal Lankton: The principal of BBU. For some one with such a shady past he decides not to share, somehow, Principal Lankton managed to secure a job as principal as BBU. Diminutive in size, but with a humongous mean streak, Lankton is the most feared authority figure in BBU. He was nearly found out by Steven Speckledorf when he almost had his identity revealed and his past exposed. Ever since, he's had a close eye on Steven..........
