What's New?
Currently.... SBC has hit over 500 members! This is great news for us, and hopefully we'll be getting to 600 members soon. Also, a brand new contest is going on. The first 5 users to find a golden ticket hidden somewhere on the forum, will get early access to v7! Congratulations to SOF who was the first person to find the ticket. Remember - use your heads! There are only 3 spots left. See the "Lost Temple" announcement on the homepage for more. Speaking of contests, don't forget to participate in our other contest to put a funny, original caption on an image. The winner will receive 1000 doubloons.
In the future... SBC will be moving to vBulletin on August 26th, 2011. This will also be the launch of v7. We had a good time on forumotion, but it is time for us to move. Stay tuned for more!Richest Users

Apple should stick to iPods.

Why do you guys say that! Microsoft sucks! It copies company's, their computers freeze and crash, and their Zunes (rip offs of iPods) suck shit! I'm sorry, but Apple is WAY better than Microsoft.
And 70s, you kicked a computer? I threw a sandwich and got suspended.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with Zunes. I wouldn't care if I had a Zune or an iPod, because they're almost exactly the same.TV repairman wrote:Why do you guys say that! Microsoft sucks! iTunes-Windows Media Player
Actually i agree with you....Microsoft is more original when Apple just sticks an 'i' in front of a word. That's starting to annoy me..

Different name for an MP3 player. Not a new concept.
iPad JUST came out. I doubt Microsoft could copy it this fast.

Re: Microsoft vs. Apple
Huge major almost-a-year-old bump, but this forum is a little inactive to start a new topic.
No shooting me, but I think Apple and Microsoft are both good companies. Microsoft dominates the computer market for a reason. Apple is all-inclusive with their Macs (everything is already set for you), but they only allow Apple-brand computers to run Mac. Their products are also outrageously priced (>$1,000 for a standard-running Mac computer is outrageous.) Windows, on the other hand, can be run on virtually any computer and thus is a more practical operating system.
However, Apple is better at making mp3 players and mobile devices than Microsoft. The iOS app store and music store is over a million times better than Zune will ever be. It's just fact. Microsoft also likes to shove products, such as Internet Explorer and Bing, down mobile user's throats, whereas Apple's products give a wide variety of options. This is where Apple shines.
So, yeah, both are good. /rant

Agree. But Microsoft's operating system has somewhat of a learning curve, while with Mac OS X, just about anyone can take to ease with it. You can also search your computer easily and efficiently with the OS X Finder, unlike on Windows, where IMO, it can be difficult to find certain files if your hard drive gets big enough. Plus, making a website, creating content, etc. is WAY better on Macs, as anyone can create on a Mac with the included iLife suite, while it might be difficult for someone on a Windows computer.

The new search feature in the start menu is very easy to search for files.tvguy347 wrote:You can also search your computer easily and efficiently with the OS X Finder, unlike on Windows, where IMO, it can be difficult to find certain files if your hard drive gets big enough.
I agree with that, but in all fairness, Windows doesn't come with website-creating software. All software is third-party for that.tvguy347 wrote:Plus, making a website, creating content, etc. is WAY better on Macs, as anyone can create on a Mac with the included iLife suite, while it might be difficult for someone on a Windows computer.

Windows 8 will incorporate facial recognition technology from Kinect. This means that you can login just by sitting down at your computer and lock the computer / log off when you walk away. Pretty cool

That's pretty cool, but Mac's user interface is better than Windows' by a mile. It runs very smooth, and getting a virus on a Mac is nearly impossible. Multitasking is also easy, with the trackpad on the notebooks and the Expose button on desktops. Plus, with laptops, the laptops are much more powerful, as well as way better structure wise. It's far thinner than any Windows laptop I've seen...especially compared to the Macbook Air.

No, I'll admit Windows 7 is an excellent OS. I use both Macs, as well as PCs. But from my experiences, Mac has proved to be the better operating system.

Multitasking is easy with Aero Flip 3D. As for the viruses, Macs would get viruses if it was the most popular OS, not to mention viruses are extremely easy to avoid if you are smart and use an antivirus and don't install something ridiculous like "Free Smileys for your computer!" As for the size of laptops, thinner doesn't always mean better. Windows laptops are fully customizable and there are countless laptops out there to choose from, each perfect for the right person.tvguy347 wrote:That's pretty cool, but Mac's user interface is better than Windows' by a mile. Don't get me wrong, though, I love Macs, I'm just pointing out the other viewpoint for no bias.

But sometimes more isn't always better. For Macs, there are six models: three desktops and three notebooks. It's extremely easy to decide which one you want. But I digress, I do like Windows 7. A huge improvement over previous OS'. But honestly, Mac is becoming much more popular; it's having a rebound effect off of the iPad's popularity. And it may not be the most popular OS, but it is far more superior IMO. Plus, I doubt there'd be many viruses even if it WAS the most popular.

Yes, and I also stated that I like Windows 7. But IMO, I prefer Mac OS X. And 'see logic'? I've used and looked at both OS', but IN MY OPINION I like Mac OS X...

Mac OS X, if you can afford it. Linux, if you can't afford Mac or want to use an existing PC. Windows blows.

Yes, I'll admit it DOES have flaws, but it's nowhere near the number of flaws Windows has....
But, Linux is pretty useless IMO...

Re: Microsoft vs. Apple
I've never had a real problem with any Windows computer. They have crashed before -- but that's not because of a virus or anything of the sort; it's because of my ignorance, I hadn't charged them and the batteries ran out. Pretty sure that would happen with a Mac as well.tvguy347 wrote:that70sguy92 wrote:Yes, but you act like any claim that Macs have flaws is completely false.tvguy347 wrote:that70sguy92 wrote:Could you take your Apple-fanboy glasses off for once and see logic? And a point that's already been made: If Macs were more popular than they are, then they would definitely not be virus-free. They're not very popular, so for now, users don't have to worry about viruses. But if Windows users are careful, they generally never have to worry about viruses either. Just don't go to OBVIOUS scam sites, etc.
IMO Windows is far superior to Mac. Mac just doesn't have any... personality? I know that's a strange thing to say, but Macs have just always seemed so bland. This isn't an argument against them, just a personal quibble.
Oh, and I got a HUGE desktop, laptop, and mini-laptop for just $999 a while ago. Last time I checked, all three are cheaper than one Macbook, and they work extraordinarily well.

IMO, Macs are the originals. Steve Jobs is the one that first gave computers personality, with different fonts and colors. Windows then followed, and, oh look, now every OS, popular or not, has a pretty sleek UI. But Macs have more personality IMO than just a lousy start menu and a superbar...

Guess what? Linux is the most stable because there's always a developer that fixes a security hole within two hours.
