What's New? Currently.... SBC has hit over 500 members! This is great news for us, and hopefully we'll be getting to 600 members soon. Also, a brand new contest is going on. The first 5 users to find a golden ticket hidden somewhere on the forum, will get early access to v7! Congratulations to SOF who was the first person to find the ticket. Remember - use your heads! There are only 3 spots left. See the "Lost Temple" announcement on the homepage for more. Speaking of contests, don't forget to participate in our other contest to put a funny, original caption on an image. The winner will receive 1000 doubloons. In the future... SBC will be moving to vBulletin on August 26th, 2011. This will also be the launch of v7. We had a good time on forumotion, but it is time for us to move. Stay tuned for more!

Google boldly bought the hardware company, Motorola, this morning for a grand total of 12.5 billion dollars. Motorola is most known for being the creators of the largely popular Droid phone series. As Apple as done, Google is now taking control of the Droids. Apple has so far had supreme control over software and hardware, and Google is now copying this. It basically admits that Google needs much more than free software and several partners to compete with Apple, but control over both components (phone and operating system). It's not just Google, either; Microsoft partnered with Nokia and HP purchased Palm earlier this year to put their WebOS on.

See? Apple was laughed at years ago, for keeping their software on devices they could control. Nope. They were the smart ones, which is now why they're the single most valuable company in the world, even having more money than the US government. People laughed at Apple for being the black sheep, but who's laughing now?

However, Android has quickly caught up with Apple. It has 33% of the market, with millions of phones shipped. Apple has reached around 20% of the market, millions shipped. But, this is based on the numbers SHIPPED and not sold, so it's not accurate. Numbers for the most recent quarter have not yet been released.

Something about this paragraph pissed me off. And I think it would even if I was a giant Apple fanboy.

The outright arrogance that came across with it. It will make me laugh even harder when Apple inevitably tumbles.

This isn't Mac vs. Windows for me or anything, I'm just letting tvguy know that Apple will not be the undisputed shit for much longer and he should enjoy this time while his overlord Steve Jobs is still on top.

Well, Microsoft already IS inevitably tumbling, and Google's core business is just from the search engine and phones, so...

Doubt they're going anywhere.

Because there's NO other competition. Right. I'm not saying it'll happen right away, but enjoy it while you can.

No, because Apple is innovative and makes quality products. They don't just rush half-assed products out. When Microsoft had buggy and chunky desktop computers, Apple had a sleek all-in-one computer. When Microsoft had clunky laptops, Apple had thin laptops. When Microsoft had problem plagued Vista, Apple had smooth and easy Leopard. There are old Mac computers that are faster than some Microsoft/Dell computers away from recent years. And meanwhile, even if Microsoft still is declining in sales, still no one comes close to matching either of them.
