What's New? Currently.... SBC has hit over 500 members! This is great news for us, and hopefully we'll be getting to 600 members soon. Also, a brand new contest is going on. The first 5 users to find a golden ticket hidden somewhere on the forum, will get early access to v7! Congratulations to SOF who was the first person to find the ticket. Remember - use your heads! There are only 3 spots left. See the "Lost Temple" announcement on the homepage for more. Speaking of contests, don't forget to participate in our other contest to put a funny, original caption on an image. The winner will receive 1000 doubloons. In the future... SBC will be moving to vBulletin on August 26th, 2011. This will also be the launch of v7. We had a good time on forumotion, but it is time for us to move. Stay tuned for more!

Is it possible? A HD successor to the Wii dedicated towards the core gamer? Interesting......

Wiimotes with touch screens? I'm a fan of Nintendo, but really? That's not innovating at all.

Well, I wouldn't call it stupid or dumb.. it's just for a different type of gamer. Myself, I'm a casual player. I play video games with friends for fun, so the Wii is somewhat an ideal console for me. However, Nintendo is like Gaga in that they aim to surprise.. this predecessor isn't in the least surprising. I was actually kinda expecting a HD Wii with touch screen technology, to be honest. :/

Even so, my Wii is already HD with my component cord.. The games aren't in HD, however.

Well the way I see it is that Nintendo makes better first party games than Microsoft or Sony. However, Microsoft and Sony have better third party games, which Nintendo unfortunately neglects. What Nintendo needs to do to regain some credibility to the core gamers out there is to have better third party support and not seem like they are lagging behind in major innovations. Last console cycle it was online play. This console cycle is HD graphics and Blu-Ray/DVD support (minus the late addition of Netflix)

First of all, we already have a topic for the new Nintendo Console. I'll go ahead and merge this topic with the other one. I appreciate you for tuning into E3 and finding this out for us, but how does it look dumb? Is it the controller?

I think it looks pretty cool and I want to see more, but you can't always judge a book by its cover. They have a year to make as many changes as they want before it gets released, but I will definitely give it a shot since Nintendo rarely disappoints.

I like the idea of having the screen there. It makes it possible for ne to play even though someone in the house may wanna watch tv. It would be a huge help for my household that's for sure. I also heard Nintendo is reaching out to more third parties so that's a plus.

Third party support is definitely a huge plus. Nintendo's innovation is the reason I keep spending money on their consoles (that and being a Nintendo fanboy xP)

I've seen a demonstration of it on "The Late Show With Jimmy Fallon," and it looks like playing it will be TOTALLY awesome! Cool Too bad we have to wait until 2012 before it comes out. Although that will give me time to beat all of the previous Nintendo games that I still have to beat on the Wii and Nintendo DS (will be upgrading to Nintendo 3DS as soon as I save enough money.) I can't (but I will) wait! SOO Happy

Well it doesn't come out for another year so they have plenty of time to work out all the kinks. I did hear about the one controller support issue. Knowing Nintendo, they will probably fix that because that sounds ridiculous, but I also heard that the 3DS can be used as an extra controller. Also, I have no clue where you heard the no Blu-Ray support. I heard from G4 that the Wii U was going to support Blu Ray.

I'm excited to see this console arrive, especially with the third party support it's receiving. Time will tell if this console can match up with Sony or Microsoft next gen since otherwise it could end up like the Dreamcast that was successful until the PS2 came out. While I don't find the controller too attractive, it's innovative. I hope Nintendo at least can make of the Wii U what they failed to do with the N64 and GameCube.

I can understand how some people might have thought that the Gamecube was lackluster, but how was the N64 a failure? It was the very first video game system to be built specifically for true free-roaming 3D video games in 1996, and it wasn't until the Dreamcast came out in 1999 that there was another system (by another company) that actually had that feature built into its hardware. If you want to talk about Nintendo FAILING, you should bring up either the disaster that was the Phillips CD-I video game system that featured 3 GOD awful "Legend of Zelda" video games from 1994-1996 that even Nintendo publicly disowned, or the headache that was the Virtual Boy Video Game system from 1995-1996. Rolling Eyes It WAS the right idea, just not at the right time OR with the right presentation. The only thing that can be called genuinely bad for the N64 was the awful video game called "Superman 64" released in 1999, but that was an exception for the video game system, not the rule! Shocked I just wanted to clear this matter up.

I agree with 4EverGreen. I mean the N64 is probably one of the best systems ever (yes I am that bold with my statement.). Hell, I know plenty of people who dust off their N64 just to play Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, Ocarina of Time, Goldeneye, and much more.

The N64 wasn't all that bad, although what it lacked was CD support since many good games that originally were going to the console like Final Fantasy 7 and Metal Gear Solid jumped to the PS1 simply because it could handle more memory and voices. Nintendo had all audiences with the NES, SNES, and even with the N64 though it started to decline with the rise of the Playstation. The Wii U should be able to bring Nintendo back to those times of success, since Nintendo started losing their lead in the race once they released the Gamecube since it lacked some third party developers and online service, people then started to consider it as a "kids" console, same goes for the Wii.

Well, I thought it was going to be the Nintendo Uss http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Nintendo%20Uss. But it seems as though I have been fooled. Maybe not though because it has an actual release date. Anyway, about the Wii U. Whenever Nintendo releases a next generation console and successor to their previous generation console, I never expected it to be a second console of the same name, like the Wii U, and I wouldn't want them to either. It's like the Wii 2, only it has U instead of 2. Because they never did that before. It was NES, Super NES, 64, Gamecube, and then Wii. Of course we all know that Sony has released the Playstation 2 and Playstation 3 and Microsoft has released the Xbox 360 after the Xbox. So it's no surprise there. But with Nintendo, I'd expect a whole new console every time. So the USS would make more sense.

Also, if the Wii U is going to be backwards compatible with Wii games, I think the Wii is going to die just like the Gamecube died when the Wii was released because Wii is also backwards compatible with Gamecube games. It's like a pattern. But, if they are going to release the Wii U, they need to add more features. HD. Whoopdeedoo. Big deal. I mean it is, but if they don't add any other features, it's pointless and stupid to come out with this console, especially because it's a second Wii and not a new system like the USS. If it has new features, that will be good for gamers. I'm not going to buy it though even with new features because I never even used all the features on the Wii, and the Wii didn't have a lot of games that I like. I'm really only into one genre, and that is platformers. Even though the Wii had more platformers than any other system, it still wasn't a lot. Only like 5.

Blu-ray compatibility and HD display is all it really needs. I think you're failing to grasp the point of the Wii U.
