What's New?
Currently.... SBC has hit over 500 members! This is great news for us, and hopefully we'll be getting to 600 members soon. Also, a brand new contest is going on. The first 5 users to find a golden ticket hidden somewhere on the forum, will get early access to v7! Congratulations to SOF who was the first person to find the ticket. Remember - use your heads! There are only 3 spots left. See the "Lost Temple" announcement on the homepage for more. Speaking of contests, don't forget to participate in our other contest to put a funny, original caption on an image. The winner will receive 1000 doubloons.
In the future... SBC will be moving to vBulletin on August 26th, 2011. This will also be the launch of v7. We had a good time on forumotion, but it is time for us to move. Stay tuned for more!Richest Users

The SBC Top 50 episodes list
Okay, so as I was walking my platypus down a dark alley in the middle of the afternoon wearing an ill-fitting sombrero, this idea came to me:
Well, truthfully, I got it from another site. But it's an awesome idea, and given the activity of our members, I think it could work here.
What you do is PM me a list of your Top 25 SpongeBob episodes, in order. From those, I will construct a list of the top 50 episodes. I imagine our tastes in episodes will be different enough for this to work, but we need a fair number of people to participate. So if you're in, just PM me a list of your Top 25 SB episodes in order.
The scoring works like this: If an episode appears as #1 on someone's list, then it gets 25 points. If it appears as #2, it gets 24 points. And so on, and so forth...
Tiebreakers work like this:
1. The episode which appears on more lists ranks higher.
2. If they appeared on the same number of lists, the one with the highest ranking on a list ranks higher.
3. If they're STILL tied, I just pick one.
So, what do you think?

I want to get enough people before setting a deadline, but let's say... mid-February? That should be plenty of time.

UPDATE:
Okay, so 2 people have sent their lists in, and I'm using my list as well, which makes 3. Suprisingly, we already have 50 episodes! So technically, I can already make a list, but I want to represent more of SBC, so get your lists in by... let's say Valentine's Day.
Also, if you've already posted in 70s's Top 25 episodes thread and your opinion hasn't really changed, you can just tell me to look there.

Okay, yesterday was officially the last day to get your lists in. But 70s and Steel said they would send in their lists, but never did. If I can get confirmation that you still want to send in your lists, I'll give you today and tomorrow.
Also, remember, you can direct me to 70s's Top 25 Episodes thread if you've posted in it and your opinion hasn't changed.

Okay, so since both of you have been online today and neither of you have replied to this thread or PMed me, I'm going to assume you aren't doing this anymore. I shall now compile the list!
Once I'm done, one episode after another will be posted in this thread, one per day. Comments are not only welcomed, but encouraged! Please don't post your entire personal lists, however, as it may give away some rankings.

Re: The SBC Top 50 episodes list
Good news! The countdown is beginning right now! Have your favourites made it? Have your least favourites made it? Only time will tell.
Before we begin, i'd like to give a big shout-out of thanks to spongbobiscool, CF, Clappy, JellyfishJammer, The Cartoon, 4EverGreen, and Steel Sponge. Including my list, that totals to 8 lists, and each one made a difference. Thanks a bunch, guys.
Okay, enough of this gooey sh... show of emotion. Let's get to it!
50. "No! Not that green stuff!"
Krabby Land - 16 points
(3 of 8 lists. Highest Ranking: #18, CF)
MONEY! - er, Krabby Land is the product of Mr. Krabs when he discovers that all the children free to roam around unsupervised during summer break are at the playground. Seeing such a sight brought tears to his eyes, so of course, something had to be done. Enter Krabby Land, complete with Fort Adventure, Hose World, and a Toaster Rodeo!
But that wasn't even the best part of Krabby Land. The best part was Krabby the Clown (of course, SpongeBob had to stall for him, which was a painful ordeal). At least, it was fun until it turned out Krabby the Clown was actually Cheapy the Cheapskate, aka Mr. Krabs with a blue tomato on his nose. However, the episode ended on a happy note as money fell out of the sky for all the little children, and SpongeBob discovered the true meaning of summer.

Awesome! Can't wait for the rest, this is gonna be fun =D
Krabby Land, very good episode, one of my fave parts is when SB steps in the Krusty Krab with that flower on his head and starts singing on a high pitch "walking on the grass is so fine, don't need shoes during summertime!" lol

Re: The SBC Top 50 episodes list
Too bad more people didn't vote, but I still can't wait to see this. ^_^ Krabby Land was a great episode and 50 seems about the right place for it. Some hilarious moments in this one, and a valuable lesson for Mr. Krabs.
Re: The SBC Top 50 episodes list
Glad to see you guys are enjoying it.
49. "Yes, ten! Because we're really hungry!"
Karate Choppers - 17 points
(1 of 8 lists. Highest Ranking: #9, JellyfishJammer)
In this episode, we see SpongeBob, Sandy, and Ka-ra-tay. Unfortunately, Mr. Krabs doesn't see the appeal in the latter (he thinks SpongeBob should make him money-ay with his spatulay). This almost leads to SpongeBob getting fired. But after Sandy takes the blame for SpongeBob's karate-infested antics at work, Mr. Krabs agrees to give SpongeBob one more chance.
To take their minds off dumb ol' karate, SpongeBob and Sandy decide to relax with a picnic. Unfortunately, making sandwiches requires a lot of chopping, which reminds them both of karate (the fisherman punctuating his casts with "Hi-ya!" wasn't really helping, either). Mr. Krabs notices SpongeBob irresistibly doing karate, but rather than fire him, he hires both SpongeBob and Sandy to use their karate skills to make Krabby Patties.

48. "Oh, I'm sorry. I'm not in control of my actions."
Squidtastic Voyage - 17 points
(1 of 8 lists. Highest Ranking: #9, CF)
It all starts when Squidward gets a reed-eee! stuck in his throat, and Sandy has to remove it. She plans to do this by shrinking the submarine, then navigating through Squidward's body down into his throat to remove the reed. But first, she has to grab supplies from her treedome, and she needs SpongeBob to guard the submarine. Of course, when Patrick comes along and suggests he "guard it from the inside", trouble ensues and SpongeBob and Patrick become the pilot and co-pilot of the submarine inside Squidward's body.
After some trouble, SpongeBob and patrick finally manage to get to Squidward's esophagus and extract the reed. Unfortunately, when Squidward tells them to get out of his body, he says, "GO!", which Patrick mistakes for "grow". Long story short, Squidward reports to work the next morning shaped like a submarine.

47. "Well, I hate to leave you Karen, but you know what they say... a rolling stone gathers no algae!"
The Algae's Always Greener - 17 points
(2 of 8 lists. Highest Ranking: #10, 4EverGreen)
Plankton is sick of eating holographic meatloaf all the time. He wants to eat real food! He also wants to switch lives with Mr. Krabs just to know what it's like. Enter the Switch-Lives-Just-To-Know-What-It's-Like-O-Mogrifier he built last Tuesday. After frightening trip through a hole of space and time, Plankton ends up at Mr. Krabs's desk.
At first, Plankton is overjoyed to have Mr. Krabs's life. But between dealing with an erratic SpongeBob, a grumpy Squidward, a whiny Pearl, and a Mr. Krabs version of himself, he finds that Mr. Krabs's life isn't as great as he thought. He finally caves in when Mr. Krabs keeps saying that he'll come back "the next day, and the next day, and the next day..." He switches back to his original life, where he is perfectly happy eating holographic meatloaf.

46. "Who's a big yellow cube with holes?!"
Help Wanted - 18 points
(1 of 8 lists. Highest Ranking: #8, Steel Sponge)
Yes, it's the episode that started it all. SpongeBob decides he's finally ready to apply for that job at the Krusty Krab. After a little pep talk from Patrick, he walks right in... and slips, bouncing off the walls. When Mr. Krabs comments that he doesn't even have his sea legs, SpongeBob proves to Mr. Krabs that he's capable of working there by going out and buying a hydrodynamic spatula with port-and-starboard attachments and turbo drive. What SpongeBob does not know is that Mr. Krabs made this up on the spot.
Once SpongeBob leaves, busloads of anchovies come to the Krusty Krab, and rampage it for food, despite Squidward's insitence that they form a straight line in front of the cash register. Just as it looks like the end for Squidward and Mr. Krabs, SpongeBob swoops in with a hydrodynamic spatula with port-and-starboard attachments and turbo drive, the only one they had in stock! After feeding the anchovies Krabby Patties at a rapid rate, SpongeBob gets the job (despite Squidward's wishes). SpongeBob would later meet a squirrel, thwart a plankton, and defeat a king jellyfish... but those are different stories altogether.

Re: The SBC Top 50 episodes list
A bit surprised to see Squidtastic Voyage get ranked so high. I didn't think it was all that great. Seems like the right spot for all of the other episodes though. I might have put Help Wanted higher up simply because of it's importance, but in terms of quality, #46 is probably fair.
Re: The SBC Top 50 episodes list
Wait till you see some of the other picks. I'm going to be struggling to write ANYTHING for them.

Personally, it would've been nice to see "The Algae's Always Greener" ranked higher, but I'm happy at the very least that it is on the list. I can't wait to see what else I helped to pick that made this list!

45. "Firmly GRASP IT!"
Jellyfishing - 18 points
(1 of 8 lists. Highest Ranking: #8, Wumbology)
Ahh, jellyfishing. Such a relaxing, fun pastime. At least, for SpongeBob and Patrick it is. Squidward prefers to ride his bike. But when he gets distracted by a jellyfish that sends him careening off a cliff and leads to major injuries, it's up to SpongeBob and Patrick to make him have the best day ever.
They start off with some alphabet soup (the letters spelling out "best day ever"), but Patrick blows a little too hard to cool it down, and SpongeBob decides soup is not the best thing to have on Squidward's best day ever. So instead, SpongeBob decides to play a tune for Squidward on his clarinet. But after he takes too long moistening his lips, Patrick decides that music's not best either. Then, SpongeBob and Patrick both come up with the surefire thing to make Squidward's day the best day ever: jellyfishing!
At first, Squidward is not impressed with this. But after a jellyfish stings him, he is determined to catch it. He does so, but is noticed by a larger jellyfish which stings him. Afterwards, Squidward sends the jellyfish he caught after SpongeBob and Patrick and the large jellyfish zaps Squidward yet again.

Damn, I can't believe I missed this! But then again, I hang out in the Entertainment boards for the most part...I rarely venture out here, in the vast Spongebob forums.

Haha, this was one of my favorite episodes as a kid. Still love it. ^_^
Re: The SBC Top 50 episodes list
Good ranking for Help Wanted, Jellyfishing on the other hand is above average. I did like the beginning but it turned a little stale later on.

44. "Laundry song, la-la-la! Sing about your laundry all day long. La-la-la-la laundry song."
New Digs - 18 points
(2 of 8 lists. Highest Ranking: #17, Wumbology, 4EverGreen)
After being late for work (gasp!) SpongeBob decides that the only way he can never be late again is to move into the Krusty Krab. Squidward has mixed feelings about this, saying he's "twice as annoying at work, but it still beats having him as a neighbor". After SpongeBob's many shenanigans (doing laundry in the kitchen, storing underwear in the cash register, converting Mr. krabs's office into his bedroom) he finally pushes Mr. Krabs over the edge when he drives all the customers by shaving Patrick's back in the restaurant. Mr. Krabs finally kicks him out, no matter how much rent SpongeBob pays him. When Squidward discovers SpongeBob's moving back in, it's his turn to move into the Krusty Krab, much to Mr. Krabs's dismay.

43. "Thanks, Mr. Krabs. I'll call you 'Hatty'. ...And that's when you showed up."
One Krab's Trash - 18 points
(2 of 8 lists. Highest Ranking: #12, The Cartoon)
While Mr. Krabs has his idea of a yard sale (dumping a garbage can's contents onto a blanket and selling them), SpongeBob comes along and buys a soda-drink hat for 10 dollars (paying Mr. Krabs $5.68 and allowing him to take the other $4.32 out of his paycheck). Mr. Krabs is satisfied until fish after fish come up to him, offering to pay him greater amounts for said hat, up to $1 million! Mr. Krabs runs to find SpongeBob, leaving a trail of money-induced saliva behind him.
Mr. Krabs tries to coax SpongeBob with other hats, but SpongeBob wants to stick with "Hatty", as he nicknamed his hat. Finally, Mr. Krabs resorts to scaring the hat off him by sending a "ghost" into his bedroom, who tells him that his hat is cursed and he will be cursed unless he returns the hat to its "rightful owner", Smitty Werben Jaeger Man Jensen. SpongeBob does so, to Mr. Krabs' surprise, who was unaware that Smitty was a real person. Now Mr. Krabs has to go to the graveyard to retrieve the hat.
After pulling himself together and remembering what SpongeBob said ("He was number one!") Mr. Krabs finally finds Smitty's grave. After quickly considering the ethics of defiling a grave for money, he digs up the grave, opens the coffin, and grabs the hat, with Smitty's head attached. After taking his head off and placing it back, he jumps out of the hole he dug. But Smitty and the army of the living dead fight to get it back. Mr. Krabs defeats them, but then it turns out that the hat is worthless. Mr. Krabs' "buyers" instead race after SpongeBob's new hat that has clapping hands.

42. "Yo ho, yo ho, near the hooks we'll never go!"
Hooky - 19 points
(1 of 8 lists. Highest Ranking: #7, 4EverGreen)
Fishermen come to Bikini Bottom, which is a perfect time for Mr. Krabs to tell his tale of... THE HOOKS! First, they dangle down and draw you close with their pleasing shapes and their pink island colours. And before you know it, you're either cooked and eaten, sent to a... *shudder* gift shop, or vacuum-packed in a can of tuna with nothing to look forward to but the smell of mayonnaise! But then Patrick convinces him to ride on the hooks, much to Mr. Krabs' chagrin. He tells SpongeBob and Patrick to never go near the hooks again.
SpongeBob starts off going to work the next day while Patrick goes to the hooks. SpongeBob doesn't follow him, but a hook stands right in his path. He at first declines it, but ultimately can't resist the temptation and hops on. But after he gets off, he finds out that he's hooked! He goes to Mr. Krabs for help, who was just busy giving Pearl and her friends free water. After he tries to deny going near the hooks, he finally caves in and takes his pants AND his underwear off. Humiliated, SpongeBob runs away, having learned his lesson (even though Squidward was operating the fishing rod the entire time).

Re: The SBC Top 50 episodes list
Another great episode on the list and a fantastic season 1 episode
The episode itself has a great plot with lots of adult humor (The hooks acting like some sort of drug "I'm Hooked") I also love the ending

Re: The SBC Top 50 episodes list
Just seeing Hooky on the list makes me say OF COURSE for an apparent reason.
Pretty good list so far, but I'm having a feeling that All That Glitters will be on the 30's.

41. "I'll give him 11 minutes."
Nature Pants - 20 points
(1 of 8 lists. Highest Ranking: #6, 4EverGreen)
After dreaming about flying with the jellyfish, SpongeBob decides to quit his job, give away all of his belongings, and go live in Jellyfish Fields. While Squidward is happy, Patrick SAD!
SpongeBob and the jellyfish first eat some kelp (which SpongeBob doesn't find as tasty as the jellyfish do). Then he shakes one jellyfish's hand, to which he gets a stinging reply. He then sees that Patrick and Sandy are having a picnic, except it's not just a picnic, it's a ploy to have SpongeBob come back home. SpongeBob doesn't fall for it, and doesn't want to come back home, which leads Patrick to try capturing him to make him a trophy. After a huge chase, SpongeBob finally hides in the hive, and Patrick gives up. The jellyfish then come back to the hive, but instead of a warm greeting, they take turns stinging him. He runs away from the hive and tries to sleep in a cave, but is thwarted by poison sea urchins.
SpongeBob then walks past all the buildings he used to know and love, sadly buzzing alongh the way. He then decides to return home, where Patrick, Mr. Krabs, Gary, Sandy, and even Squidward have thrown him a surprise party! They all give SpongeBob a hug simultaneously, but unfortunately, SpongeBob brought some sea urchins home with him.
