New post icons don't work after I log out

It's just annoying. I see a lot of new posts, then I have to log out for some reason, then I log back in and all the topics with new posts I didn't go to the last time have a still shell icon (meaning no new posts), making it very hard to differentiate between topics with new posts and topics without.
This is the first board I've been to where this has happened. Is it just my computer? Or is this the norm for Forumotion? If the latter, is there any way to fix it?

It's the norm for Forumotion, unfortunately. I avoid it by logging out while on a thread and not the index/portal, if that helps.
