What's New? Currently.... SBC has hit over 500 members! This is great news for us, and hopefully we'll be getting to 600 members soon. Also, a brand new contest is going on. The first 5 users to find a golden ticket hidden somewhere on the forum, will get early access to v7! Congratulations to SOF who was the first person to find the ticket. Remember - use your heads! There are only 3 spots left. See the "Lost Temple" announcement on the homepage for more. Speaking of contests, don't forget to participate in our other contest to put a funny, original caption on an image. The winner will receive 1000 doubloons. In the future... SBC will be moving to vBulletin on August 26th, 2011. This will also be the launch of v7. We had a good time on forumotion, but it is time for us to move. Stay tuned for more!

Cube Empty Cube

Post by OMJ 6/30/2011, 3:02 am

A very trippy ass horror movie involving a group of people who awaken to find themselves trapped in a complex device known as The Cube. The Cube is a basically a gigantic cube that is made up of smaller cube-shaped rooms, much like a mechanical rubix cube. Seemingly almost every cube houses a deadly trap that can killed any who foolishly decides to enter it. The traps range from extra-thin razor wire, acid shower, sound-activated spikes etc. What makes things even harder is that these traps come completely at random and could function and activate in different ways, from triggering the trap by just stepping foot in the room or by making a single sound. The only proper way to determine whether a room is safe or not is by calculating very difficult mathematical equations that are seen on the doors or whatever. These equations are far beyond my comprehension, so I'm not going in-depth, but it does raise the suspense level of the movie.

The way the movie was written was especially superb, which raises its approval rating for me. The characters are all introduced as being a certain something. For example, a guy is introduced as supposedly being the leader of the group but is the first one killed, the guy who takes his place as the strong character turns out to be the antagonist in the end, the guy who is introduced as being antagonistic ends up being the hero, and a mentally-challenged dude who is only seen as a liability throughout most of the movie ends up solving the most difficult mathematical equations at lightspeed. What I like the most is how they keep The Cube's full backstory a mystery. It adds more to the surrealism and all that. Makes you question just who would want to have such a device built and for what purpose?

There are sequels out there but I have yet to watch them. I haven't heard anything good about the sequels neither so I might pass those up. Anyways, great movie. I recommend it. Let's discuss.
