SBC News
What's New? Currently.... SBC has hit over 500 members! This is great news for us, and hopefully we'll be getting to 600 members soon. Also, a brand new contest is going on. The first 5 users to find a golden ticket hidden somewhere on the forum, will get early access to v7! Congratulations to SOF who was the first person to find the ticket. Remember - use your heads! There are only 3 spots left. See the "Lost Temple" announcement on the homepage for more. Speaking of contests, don't forget to participate in our other contest to put a funny, original caption on an image. The winner will receive 1000 doubloons. In the future... SBC will be moving to vBulletin on August 26th, 2011. This will also be the launch of v7. We had a good time on forumotion, but it is time for us to move. Stay tuned for more!

Yeah yeah, sue me for my bad pun later. Let's talk animation.

They have stop motion, computer animation, and good ol' fashion illustration.

Stop motion includes anything from Lego-mation to Clay-mation, but is always the most tedious of the three. Take a look for yourself if you don't believe me:

If you do not have respect for the people that made that masterpiece, you have no taste in anything. At all.

Computer animation, is, of course, what we're all familiar with. It ranges from simple cartoon shows to something as wonderful as a Pixar movie; they're all the same, because they're all managed by computers. It doesn't matter how intricate or not, they're all used by the same technology, which is rather wild. I don't feel the need to provide an example because I feel everyone is already so familiar with it, it'd be redundant.

Ah... Good ol' fashion illustration... My personal favorite, as it, along with clay-mation, so easily capture one's artistic ability. Sure, computer animation is art, but to what degree? It's not hands on, which is the only thing I don't like about it. The thing I love about illustration, is that no matter what, everything starts out with a piece of paper and a pencil. Unfortunately, thanks to all these fancy-smancy computers, it's rather overshadowed, and is not what it was once in it's prime. Take a look at my favorite illustration scene, from a movie everyone should be familiar with:

Done entirely by hand, no computer help whatsoever. Amazing, no?

Meh. That's my two cents; what're your opinions, if you have any?

Hand-drawing FTW. Some say it looks too amateur, but I think it looks like more thought and heart was put into it.

Gotta go with computer animation, solely for Pixar and their brilliance.

I prefer hand drawn. So much more effort and detail went into actual animation cels.
