What's New? Currently.... SBC has hit over 500 members! This is great news for us, and hopefully we'll be getting to 600 members soon. Also, a brand new contest is going on. The first 5 users to find a golden ticket hidden somewhere on the forum, will get early access to v7! Congratulations to SOF who was the first person to find the ticket. Remember - use your heads! There are only 3 spots left. See the "Lost Temple" announcement on the homepage for more. Speaking of contests, don't forget to participate in our other contest to put a funny, original caption on an image. The winner will receive 1000 doubloons. In the future... SBC will be moving to vBulletin on August 26th, 2011. This will also be the launch of v7. We had a good time on forumotion, but it is time for us to move. Stay tuned for more!

Character Analysis - SpongeBob Empty Character Analysis - SpongeBob

Post by Clappy 8/18/2011, 6:23 pm

What do I mean by character analysis? This is the first of many topics I will be creating for the main characters of SpongeBob. In these threads, you can analyze the character listed above in the title.

What do you guys like about the character of SpongeBob? Do you have any problems with SpongeBob's character now? What changes would you make about the character of SpongeBob?

I'll start off.

Out of all the main characters, I feel that SpongeBob has changed the most. I feel that his character has become more man-childish as the seasons have progressed. Granted he has always been man-childish, but at least he was a bit more reasonable back in the early days of the series. Despite that complaint, I wouldn't change his character now. The show has clearly defined the way their characters are going to act from here on out and the producers are probably not going to make too many dramatic changes to the character of SpongeBob. The only change I can possibly see them making is changing his laugh (which was at its best in Season 4 if you ask me), but his laugh always changes.

I haven't noticed anything different about SpongeBob, but that's probably because I wasn't looking.

You never noticed how man-childish his character is or how his laugh constantly changes all the time? Silly Face!

i have two complaints about spongebob's character. one would be his voice. it changed after the movie, and it is now too high and intolerable that i just can't handle it. i want his old low voice back. also, in the first three seasons, he was more mature and acted like an adult, even if he was a little goofy and silly every now and then. but after the movie, he began to act too immature and childish. he cried for every little thing and that made him so annoying and act too much like a baby. what the heck happened to him?

You know what, I'm finally going to speak my mind about you. Do you hate everything after 2004 for a good reason? Have you even tried to watch some of these episodes? Not all of them are awful. Just because Stephen Hillenburg is gone, it doesn't mean that the show completely sucks now. Sure, there are times where there's an episode that's less than okay, but season 8 overall has been pretty good. We got gems like Oral Report, which was the first time in a long time where I laughed out loud while watching a post-movie SpongeBob. I'm sorry, but could you actually, oh I don't know, have some backbone behind your ''spongebob isn't good anymore'' theory? That's all I ever hear from you.

Spongebobiscool. Because he seems to say the same thing on anything to do with post-movie episodes.

I do think Spongebob's characterization has downgraded more towards an immature kid than a young adult that he (kinda) used to be. But otherwise, I think Spongebob is a good character that I otherwise wouldn't change dramaticlly unless truly needed.

I still adore the little square dude, but my opinion I have upon him now is somewhat ambiguous. What I mean by that is, I feel that he is a little more childish and not as mature as he used to be. Believe me, he was immature then, but not as much as he is now. And I HATE when his dang cheeks go inwards like that! It annoys me soooo much. Indifferent

I'm just saying the truth cuz it is. But however not all new episodes were bad but most of them are bad in season 6-8 with a few rare good or ok episodes.

I haven't noticed a change in SpongeBob's personality other than he can sometimes be more childish than he used to be, but he still smart and adorable. The only thing I can't stand are the way they draw his cheeks like in episodes Boating Buddies and Pets or Pests.

This. This right here. It perfectly explains exactly how I feel about this whole thing. I FRICKIN CAN'T STAND WHEN HIS CHEEKS DO THAT. Who does that? Who's in charge of drawing him? Storyboard artists?
