Submission of a banner for GFX designer

I threw together a quick picture for my submission. Of course, it isn't an actual banner because the size is off a lot and such. I made this in a minute or two. If the admins think this isn't good enough or something, that's fine by me.

I know this is soooo basic. I can add text and everything, but I just took a Spongebob picture and shrunk it down to 96 X 96 on Photoshop. What I was trying to do was overlap the Spongebob logo over the basic picture of Spongebob. I can get the layer of the spongebob logo to go over the basic picture of Spongebob, but I don't know how to make the logo picture smaller. Sadly, I'm not an ace at everything in Photoshop. I can make avatars though with text and make them colorful. I'm not the best at avatars, so I'm still working hard on it.
I can also make buttons that provide a link with them. Just saying.
Again, I know the avatar is basic. It's just a quick thing I made.

Pretty good, though one corner of SpongeBob looks a bit strange in that first one.

I know. I got the picture off Google. I should have made that white part at the top left transparent.
