What's New? Currently.... SBC has hit over 500 members! This is great news for us, and hopefully we'll be getting to 600 members soon. Also, a brand new contest is going on. The first 5 users to find a golden ticket hidden somewhere on the forum, will get early access to v7! Congratulations to SOF who was the first person to find the ticket. Remember - use your heads! There are only 3 spots left. See the "Lost Temple" announcement on the homepage for more. Speaking of contests, don't forget to participate in our other contest to put a funny, original caption on an image. The winner will receive 1000 doubloons. In the future... SBC will be moving to vBulletin on August 26th, 2011. This will also be the launch of v7. We had a good time on forumotion, but it is time for us to move. Stay tuned for more!

Spongebob vs. Rugrats

Post by storytime7 on 8/20/2010, 2:32 pm

Both are considered the most popular of their era, Rugrats was the most popular nicktoon of the 90's and Spongebob is the most popular nicktoon of the 00's, which one do you think is the best? Personally for me i'd have to go with Spongebob cause it's my favorite nicktoon and even though Rugrats is a classic and both of these shows "went downhill" the newer seasons of Spongebob are better than the newer seasons of Rugrats were and I like the older Spongebob seasons more than the older Rugrats seasons. They're both classic cartoons but I like Spongebob more than Rugrats. What your thoughts? If you've never seen the Rugats you can watch this episode:

I think I may like Rugrats more. It always had this huge charm to me, and I honestly never saw the decline in quality people talked about in the later seasons, while I could clearly see it in SpongeBob.

Brittany: Well, family is a place where everybody loves you no matter what. And they accept you for who you are. I know I'm going to be a bridesmaid at Mike and Tina's wedding. And I'm going to be anxiously waiting just like everybody else to see if their babies are Asian too. When they find an operation to make Artie's legs work again, I'm going to be there for his first steps. I love them, I love everyone in glee club and I get to spend another year with the people I love. So, I'm good.
Santana: What about you and I?
Brittany: I love you Santana. I love you more than I've ever loved anyone else in this world. All I know about you and I is that because of that, I think anything's possible.
Santana: When did you get so smart?

Re: Spongebob vs. Rugrats

Post by SpongeSebastian on 8/28/2010, 12:14 am

Rugrats was a pretty good show. It's sad that Nick no longer airs it at all. SpongeBob is of course my personal favorite, but Rugrats had a sort of charm and humor that made you tune in (despite it being about a bunch of babies). However, SpongeBob's merchandising sales and ratings are over the roof, and I just don't think Rugrats ever lived up to the pop-culture influence SpongeBob created.

I really liked Rugrats, but it's not amazing. To be honest I'd say SpongeBob is massively better. It has much better old episodes and MUCH better new episodes (cause it didn't go downhill nearly as much). Smile

TV.com Description of Rugrats:
"At Rugrats' peak it was one of the, if not the most popular show on Nickelodeon."

I think everyone in the world should know this is blatantly wrong. Silly Face!

Rugrats was the most popular Nickelodeon show of the 90's and probably the 2nd most popular Nickelodeon show of all time (behind Spongebob).

I know, but let's be honest. SpongeBob is a phenomenon. Within a few years it surpassed Rugrats' popularity, and it only grew much more popular from there. I doubt there's anyone who believes Rugrats was more popular. Silly Face!

Well that's pretty obvious that Spongebob is way more popular, but Rugrats was losing popularity at the time because it was going downhill.
